I’m Scott Stevens from HabilePhotography, a photographer based in Woodchurch between Tenterden and Ashford, deep in the heart of Kent, the beautiful Garden of England.

I started off “properly” with my photography around 2006 when I bought my first DSLR. Initially I mainly took landscape and nature photos, as well as a few (OK, a lot!) of family snaps. After a few years of this whilst being involved in the periphery of the beauty industry, I started to get inspired by the images in the fashion and beauty magazines and campaigns. And so, it was purely by chance a few years ago, during a family gathering while taking macro shots of the flowers in the garden I pointed my camera at some of the (more willing!) family members and took a few portrait shots. I loved how some of them turned out with the beautiful natural light I had that day. Ever since then I was hooked on photographing people.

I really love the interaction working with other people. Landscapes are good for a bit of escapism, but can get a bit cold and lonely! I love being part of a team, working on ideas and trying to create the image we’re imagining in our heads. When we come up with something that works and we’re all equally pleased the outcome it’s a hugely satisfying sense of achievement.

I’m always looking to broaden my horizons and to grow and learn from each session. Equally, I’m happy to share what I’ve picked up along the way with anyone who is curious as it means I’ve hopefully inspired them enough to ask.

When I'm not in the studio I still love to be out and about enjoying the countryside and all it has to offer!
